JQuery :: Correction Function On Form?
May 23, 2011
I'm doing a form, 300 questions, I already done the blank validator function, but i'm quite struck for this correction function, usually for 10 question i do some "if" "elseif" but for 300 question it's not possible xD.
I have a classic form with true or false radio buttons i want to be able to show the question and the answers made and to count the number of "true" returned.

Why not a plugin like (small correction void should be a string)
$.fn.delay = function(delay){
if(typeof delay==="undefined") delay = 1000;
return this.animate({"void":0}, delay);
}
This way you can call it like this
$('#element').delay().effect('pulsate');

Im trying to find a way to disable the keyboard backspace button from going back a page but allowing it to go back a character.
The problem happens with our webmail client when composing a message, if the cursor is not in the textarea and backspace is clicked it goes back a page and everything typed in the textarea is lost, its easy to do because we use a cms menu thats always active, and distract the cursor, and its very frustrating. I am trying to create a form that writes text to an HTML canvas when submitted. Eventually, the function that writes the text will be more complex. The problem is the text only appears briefly, because the function is only called once when the form is submitted. I want the function to be called continuously after the form is submitted.How do I do this? I have had very little experience with JS.A lame (failed) attempt...

I cant get this each function to work inside a form: For example I have this code:
$('#formid>input').each(function(){
if($(this).attr('id')!='') alert($(this).attr('value'); //fetch id if
not blank ang show value
});
The code inside this function does not run if the form is rendered this way:
<form><div id='tabs" >
<ul>...</ul><div id='tab1">
<input type='text' id='fname' /></div>
</div></form>
But if it is rendered in a simplier way like this, it works:
<form><input type='text' id='fname' /></form>
I am using jquery jquery-ui-1.7.2.custom.main.js library by the way for the tabs but I don't think that messes up the whole thing though...

There is a line in a jquery plugin that I am using that calls a function to run on the inputs of form "autoSubmit."
Code:
$(function(){
$('#autoSubmit INPUT').autoSubmit();
});
My problem lies in that I have multiple of these forms on a single page, each one named autoSubmit. I easily rename each with PHP to autoSubmitXXX or YYY depending on their record id numbers, but then the .autoSubmit(); function doesn't know which form to work with.
Code:
'#autoSubmit INPUT'
I can grab the individual form ID (XXX or YYY) with:
Code:
var where_val = form.find('#where').val();

Having an issue with the .change functionality on a form selector in IE8 which I have not been able to figure out, and is now driving me insane.
When the select is change to an item with a value of 1, it is supposed to set the values of two textboxes to blank. Eg;[code]...
The most interesting thing is when I run this through jsfiddle to test it - it works perfectly there, but not when in our actual website (an intranet with a FQDN, and IE8 is set up to run such pages in standards mode, and not the default of compatibility mode).
Using latest version of jQuery (1.4.2-min), and no success. Same issues occurred when trying it in 1.2.6.

I have a simplified version below of a multipart form. There are two steps and two tabs. I want the user to enter their username and email address and click 'Next' which will validate to make sure those fields are filled in, then activate and advance to tab #2 (Step #2) of the form, where they enter their credit card information.
I am having difficulty because username, email and credit card are all in the same form and I need to only validate certain fields on each step of the form. I was thinking I could make a function when the 'Next' button was hit that would validate the first two fields?
Here is what I have so far. I have a 'Next' button which activates and advances the tab to Step #2, but I need to work some form of validation into it before it advances. At the bottom of the page I have a 'Submit' button which is just so you can see that the validation is working if the form is submitted. I just want the 'Next' button to activate a function to only validate the fields on Step #1 (username/email).
Give it a look:[url]

I'm using the submit and ajax functions to check a form. When the form is submitted the submit event executes and within that event the data (a code the user has to fill in) is sent to the server to check if it's correct. If it is correct, the submit event supposes to return true (so the form submits), if it's incorrect the submit event supposes to return false (so submitting the form cancels).
Here's my code that should do this:
$(function(){
var submit = false;
$('#login').submit(function(){
$('span.error').fadeOut('slow');
$.ajax({
url: '/ajax/login',
type: 'POST',
data: 'code=' + $('#code').val(),
success: function(response){
if (response != ''){
$('span.error').fadeIn('slow').text(response);
submit = false;
}else{
submit = true;
}}})
return submit;
})});
But here's the problem: While jQuery does the ajax request, the script continues. So it will return false - even if the code is validated - because the var submit has been set to false at line 4. When I submit the form again, the form is validated because 'submit' is true (but that's set to true the first time). How can I ensure the submit function waits for the ajax request to finish?

I'm trying to submit a form with the jQuery Form Plugin by malsup. I'm fairly positive my code is correct because in IE8 the success function is being called and the background of the boxes are turning green. In IE7 however, The submit function is definitely working as the file is uploaded to the correct place, but the success function is not being called/fired. Any ideas as to why this might be? Do IE7 and IE8 handle this that differently? The function in the success call is just changing a checkbox and combo box background colors to green.

Within an aspx page, I have a form with asp controls (text boxes) that I'm loading within a jQuery modal popup dialog. Once the user fills out the form and the register button is clicked in the modal form, it invokes a code-behind function, which seems to be working fine. However, the problem I'm facing is in the code-behind function; none of the field values in the modal popup form are being passed to the code-behind function.I was unable to attach some snapshots directly to the post, so I uploaded it at the following urls:

I have a simple form that inserts a name into a database. The functionality works fine. But the message that is suppose to show is wrong.
Code JavaScript:
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#nameForm').submit(function () {
$('.msgbox').hide();
$.post('ajax.Register.php', {name: $('#name').val()}, function (data) {
if (data) {
$('.msgbox').show('fast', function () {
$(this).html('OK!');
});
}else {
$('.msgbox').show('fast', function () {
$(this).html('Failed!');
});
}});
return false;
});
});
The form always shows "Failed!" even though the name went through in my database.
Code PHP:
try {
$objUser = new PDO("mysql:dbname=ajax;host=localhost", "root", "");
}
catch (PDOException $e) {
echo 'Unable to connect';
}
$strName = $_POST['name'];
if (empty($strName))
return false;
$strQuery = "INSERT INTO name (name) VALUES (:name)";
$objStatement = $objUser->prepare($strQuery);
$objStatement->bindParam(':name', $strName, PDO::PARAM_STR);
if ($objStatement->execute())
return true;
return false;

I made this function to duplicate form elements with a little html-code surrounding the input fields. First i clone the html of the first child found (always gets rendered by php). Then, everytime the add-button is pushed, i append a cloned piece of that stored html. It's working fine except for the delete button.
It's seems that whenever a cloned html is removed, the other cloned elements aren't recognized anymore by the delete buttons (although the delete buttons are in them)

Is there a way to access a forms details by sending its parameters to a
function. For example, I have a form named "myForm" populated by a drop down box, so that <select name="mySel">
I am trying to send the form and drop down box name to a javascript
function, eg onChange="update( "myForm", "mySel") so that, within the Javascript update(formName, selName) function I can access the forms doing something like this:
update(formName, selName)
{
selected_index = document.forms.formName.selectedIndex;
selected_value = document.forms.formName.selName[selectedIndex];
}
so that I can access the specified value using the input arguments to
the function, rather than doing
selected_index = document.forms.myForm.selectedIndex;
selected_value = document.forms.myFormn.mySel[selectedIndex];
The reason for this is because I have a lot of drop box boxes that are
changed by the user.

I have a form that submits a POST request when data is submitted. A Servlet then processes this POST request and a JavaBean is used to make some calculations. The HTML response is not generated within the Servlet but instead I forward the request to a JSP to generate the response. - This all works fine.
However, I am suck trying to validate the form on the client side with a JavaScript function before the form is submitted.
Here is my index.jps:
Regardless of whether incorrect input is given, the data is still POSTed to the server and calculated on or a Server Side error is given.
Am I correct in calling the function onClick?
The validation essentially needs to be so that:
- Student field contains a string
- Score1, Score2, Score3 and Score 4 contain a number between 0 and 100

I am submitting a form using an image as the link to a js file. The image calls a js function which checks fields- issuing alerts for errors - if no errors it then submits the form.
I would like to have a final confirm box run from the function before the form is submitted. I guess I would have to use the return statement somehow but I can't see quite how.
