JQuery :: Convert Table To List?
Mar 14, 2011
I am converting a <table> to list (<ul><li>) I have 25 row and each row has 5 col. I'm putting the first col into an <li> and getting background color from the remaining 4 col. my code works for the colors however I'm not sure why? I'm only looking at the first child in the <tr> and yet it's returning the color for all 4?
Also I need to count the rows and add to the current rendered list
function convertToList() {
$('#tblHospitals th').remove();
var list = $("<ul></ul>");
var myrowCount = "10"
[Code]....

Is there any way in JS to convert all items in a Select to a numbered list? I can imagine something like
for (Scount=0;Scount<select.length;Scount++)
and then process each value in the Select to a numbered list, but I can't figure out how and there seems to be no one on the internet with the same goal...

I have a string with javascript linebreaks with /n. I want to make a function that will make a text only ordered list (text within a text area... i.e. I don't want to us ol and li)
For example,
Spot1
Spot2
Spot3
would be converted to
A) Spot 1 -
B) Spot 2 -
C) Spot 3 -
So far I think I need to use an array, and replace...
Code:
function AddLabels(element_id) {
x=document.getElementById(element_id).value;
countlinebreaksstr=x
try {
return((countlinebreaksstr.match(/[^
]*
[^
]*/gi).length));
} catch(e) {
return 0;
}
var myArray = [A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H];
var i=0;
for (i=0;i<=10;i++)
{
}

I would like to create a program which converts some letters into different ones.
1) I want 2 text areas (input and output) + "convert" button
2) if I type in the input area the letters "ea" I would like it to be converted into "a", so that If I type "cambrea" and press "submit" the output text will have "cambra".
3) if I type "e " which is (e+space) I want it to be converted into " " which is "space" example: if I type the word "spine " it should be converted into "spin , note that there is a space after "spin ".
4) If I type any vowel before "o" it should render "o", example: gambuo becomes gambo.
would this be possible? I'm not very familiar with Javascript even though I can modify it.

I'm trying to create a scrolling menu. Example here [URL] I don't think there's an issue with the javascript necessarily. I've tried alternatively using jquery's animate function with scrollLeft and I still get the flickering. I'm thinking it's more to do with the HTML/CSS. For instance I'm wondering if using a table instead of a floated list for the menu might be a step in the right direction.
Code PHP:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Gallery</title>
<style type="text/css">
* { /* default styles */

I have a page that displays a list of people playing in a tournament. I need to be able to generate a Leaderboard based on which players are manually selected by the admin. Next to each person there is a drop-down list. An admin can go in and select a "slot" that a player should be in on the leader board from 1 to 8, or leave it blank if none. What I need to figure out how to do is the following, when a change event happens on a drop-down list, and say the value 5 is selected, I need to check to make sure that 5 is not already selected in one of the other players drop-down lists, in other words, that the 5th leaderboard slot is not already full. if it is, display an error message and make them change that one first. how to do that with jQuery? I'm thinking it will have something to do with the each() function, but not sure exactly how the logic should work.

i have a menu and i would like to change the color of the Categories which have subcategories only. In my example the basic categories are: News , Announcements , Contact and Career. Only Announcements and Career categories have subcategories. So i would like those two to turn green. The fact is that the list items include a href ,so i don't know how to access those "a href" combined with "this".
<ul id="my_menu">
<li id="id0"><a href="#" style="text-decoration:none">News</a></li>
<li id="id1"><a href="#" style="text-decoration:none">Announcements</a>
<ul>

I have been trying to make an expand/collapse (essentially accordion) list. So far, everything works and looks fine in Firefox, Safari, and Chrome, but in IE8, the page height is static when it loads, with a page height being as if all headers in the list were expanded. The expand/collapse functionality works,but as you can imagine, there is this big gap of space after the list.
The html markup uses <h2> tags for the always-visible header portion and a <div> for the expanding/collapsing content. The <div> content contains form elements and everything is enclosed in a form tag.Anyways, here is the jQuery code:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('<img src="plus.png" class="icon" />').prependTo('.header');
$('.content').hide();[code].....

I'm working on a project that requires dynamic manipulation of an ordered list -- adding and removing elements in response to the user pressing buttons. I've run in to some odd behavior. Here's my code:
HTML
<ol id="track-list">
<li>Static Content Here</li>
</ol>
<input type="button" id="add-track" value="Add Track" />
jQuery:
$("#add-track").click(function(){
var listEl = $("<li>Dynamic Content Here</li>");
listEl.hide();
[code]....
Looks pretty straightforward, problem is when I add the new list element it does not prepend it with any number (being part of an ordered list). Now if I remove the hide and fadeIn lines (just append it), it inserts it correctly with a number before it, but I want this to look pretty being jQuery and all...

I have a MySQL table with 90 columns and I want the users to be able to select any columns they concern and output the result accordingly. In the front-end, I can use a group of checkbox which looks very ugly and I can not setup the orders for selected columns. Is there a plug-in or some examples in jQuery, that I can make 2 parallel boxes (i.e. an original-box and a selected-box). the original- box lists all of the column names at the beginning and there is a way to move items between two boxes. And the order of items in the selected-box can be adjusted. the items in the selected-box will be used to build into an array in my backend code.

I can't seem to get this color conversion from hex to rgb to work:
/* note: hexStr should be #rrggbb */
var hexStr = 'bebebe';
var hex = parseInt(hexStr.substring(1), 16);
var rcolor = (hex & 0xff0000) >> 16;
var gcolor = (hex & 0x00ff00) >> 8;
var bcolor = hex & 0x0000ff;
return [rcolor];
return [gcolor];
return [bcolor];
Lines 2-10 are a script I found. Looking to write the indiv. rgb values into another line. FYI this whole script draws a multiple text shadows behind text and rotates it.

I was wondering if its possible to convert a form post into an ajax jquery banner? for example if someone posts something to the site( which includes a main image for the banner and some little explanation) and that post would come out in your sites main page banner with a fixed banner image and description they posted on the form and it would constantly be updated with new posts from users. Is that possible to do?

In addition to fetching JSON you might want to POST it back to the server, but there is no postJSON method. You cannot use the generic ajax method, either. What is missing is the complement of "eval" to turn a JavaScript object in to JSON. The JSON.stringify function from www.json.org (see json2.js in JavaScript section) does the trick, but it would be nice if jQuery incorporated that out of the box, to save some hunting time.
Using the jquery ajax method to set the "type" to "json" and the "content-type" to "application/json" send and recieve JSON, but you must use JSON.stringify to convert your outgoing object to JSON. P.S.. a lot of forgiving parsers have resulted in a lot of articles on JSON being wrong. would I like to mention that here. Property names are JSON strings. JSON strings have double quotes. Therefore, property names have to be surrounded with double quotes. Single quotes are not JSON strings and not legal (JSON is not JavaScript).

Hindi and Arabic use the same numbering system but they draw the characters for each numeral differently than we do in US and Western Europe.for instance,рез is a 1 in Devnagari (Hindi)EDIT: figured out my own questionThis does it where 2406 is the base decimal # for devanagarieval('"\u0' + (2406 + num).toString(16) +'"')
