1.I found a Slider Toggle thats demonstrated here [URL] and it seems to work fine but only if the link is placed above the div that slides down.. im trying to make the div slide down from above my menu and i want 1 of the links on my menu to toggle the slider. how do i get it work to where I can place the link below the sliding div? 2. the script originally used .fader{opacity:0;display:none;} but I wanted the slider div to be visible if javascript was disabled so I added

I have to change the slider color depending on its value, but I didn't manage to do it, I changed the attribute "background" of the class "ui-slider-range" this way : $("#slider.ui-slider-range").css("background","red"); Since I have three states (red, orange and green) I have to use three sliders, each one has one color, all hidden at the beginning then I show the appropriate slider when the value changes.

I've got the following problem: I have a Jquery slider and I want to disable the click on the slider. I only want to change the slider when I click and drag the pointer. Standard you can also click everywhere on the slider and the pointer will go to that point. That I don't want. .

I have created a grid of images and want them to scale up, similar to google images. I'd like to be able to get at the actual size of an image, rather than the current size. Is there a JQuery function that does this? It seems the width() method only retrieves the current size.

Simple question: Is there a linear crossfade for cycle?
Here's the problem: the "fade" transition isn't linear: fades out the first image faster than it fades in the second. This leads to the problem where the background is slightly visible behind the images being faded during a transition.
Put another way: if the cycle plugin is set up to fade two white images over a black background, the slideshow should always be 100% white; but it's not...during the transition the black is visible through the white, making the transition pulse from white to grey.
Setting the BG colour is not the solution I'm after. I'd like to have cycle do a linear fade.
Is there a way?

When the tabs are initialized by this code:$( "#tabs" ).tabs(); , it displays the tabs in a way that I don't like. I want to trace into the actual 'tabs' function when this is called so I can see why it is doing what it is doing. I have not been able to find where this code is sitting.

I have 2 monitors with a different resolution. It is important in yapplicationthat I get the screen size of the monitor wherethe webbrowser is located. When I try to get the screen size (window.screen.height + window.screen.width) only IE gives me always the screen size of the main monitor where my taskbar (windows7) is located, instead of the screen size of the secondary screen where the webbrowser is located. It does work in all other webbrowsers .
I have created a page with an alert on JSbin.com to show you your screen resolution. If you use 2 monitors open the page in one of the monitors. You will notice you will get the screen resolution of the screen where your web browser is located, except in IE (hoera!)

someone had been asking about getting images to load in a specific order a while back, and while i was thinking about that, i came up with the following preloader script. the thing that separates this one from most of the other ones you'll find is that it lets you know if any of the images didn't load. if i weren't too lazy (i'm actually posting 'cause i'm hoping someone will do this for me), i'd connect the XmlHTTP request object to the array of failed image urls, and get the actual error headers, too.anyway, here it is. it takes an array of url strings to load, and returns an array of the ones that failed, for whatever reason.
function preLoad(args){
if (document.images){
var img = new Image();
var failed = [];
img.onerror = function(){
failed[failed.length] = this.src;
if(args.length > 0){ this.src = args.shift(); }
}
img.onload = function(){
if(args.length > 0){ this.src = args.shift(); }
}
img.src = args.shift();
}
else { var failed = args; }
return failed;
}

I need to know how to get the actual screen size in points or centimeters, not in pixels. The javascript functions give me the pixels, but I need to know how many points or centimeters that is regardless if it comes from a browser or a device like an ipad or iphone. Does anyone know the code to calculate this?

My question is, can I get the actual size of a div's content when div's width is 'auto' and the content is small enough to fit without resizing. I know there is a way to find the div's actual size after it's loaded - divObj.offsetWidth/Height. The problem is that this only works for content which is bigger than the div.
For example,
Code:
<div style="width:30px;">A text that will exceed 30px in width</div>
In this case, when the content is loaded the div will be resized and get a new offsetWidth/Height. There will be lots of new lines after the resizement which posses another problem.
After loading, the above example will look like this:
Code:
A
text
that
will
exceed
30px
in
width
Now the example has offsetWidth little more than 30px (~50) and MUCH greater height. This is not the desired effect. I want the width/height of the content when the div is not resized by the content.

I've search all over to find a way to simulate an actual click on an element using javascript or jquery.
For example, suppose there is an element with id="someElement". I've tried
$('#someElement').click();
and
$('#someElement').trigger('click');
But this doesn't work. You might think "Why don't you just call the function that is triggered by the click event, or redirect to the url that a click would lead to anyway", but I can't do this.

I need to have certain links on my site appear to go one place for search engines:
<a href="http://example.com" ...
but go through an intermediate script to track clicks:
... onclick="window.location='http://example.org/track.php?id=112';">
I suppose that's easy enough, but, if the user doesn't have Javascript enabled, I'd like the click to still go through the tracking script.

I set the height of an object to "100%", via its HTML definition. I later want to determine the actual height of it, using JavaScript. If I access its "height" property it returns the string "100%". How do I get the actual height, in pixels, that it ended up being when it got displayed by the browser?
