JQuery :: 1.5.1+ Broke Old $.get() Json Calls?

Apr 12, 2011

functions like:

function showData(id) {
$.get("/url/getdata", {id : id}, function(data) {
$("#dialogData").html(data);

[code]....

no longer work with the addition of 1.5.Looking at firebug, the correct data is returned, but the function breaks after entering the callback.Everything simply stops.I read about the changes to Ajax call in 1.5, but I have over a thousand such calls through my project -> I cannot even begin to think about hunting them all down and changing them, let alone bug testing it all.

JQuery :: IE (any Version) Is Not Parsing Returned JSON Via GetJSON Or $.ajax Calls?

Jul 6, 2009

I am trying out $.ajax instead of getJSON for debugging purposes. Because getJSON did not report an error in IE (6,7 or 8) and I am
trying to figure out why a jQuery plug-in is not painting my returned images to the screen in IE but is in other browsers. So I tried this. Interestingly enough, it hits the error event in IE but not firefox, safari and the rest and I don't know why (this code works great and renders my data just fine in FireFox and the rest). I know my returned json is valid:

$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "http://localhost:59396/sss/sssHandler.ashx?
action=getproducts&ids=" + ids,

[code]....

I don't know what else to do to troubleshoot why IE is having so much trouble with the returned JSON or just executing the function(data)
using either getJSON OR this. I have set the headers not the cache also in the response. IE refuses to enter my function(data) on the response.

[
{
"ImageTag": "u003cdiv class="CarouselItem
"u003e<p><img src="http://www.xxx.com/image/

[code]....

Same result. Firefox and the rest had no issue. IE still exited the $.ajax and my error method kicked in. No rhyme or reason whatsoever and I tried the IE Dev tools... nothing. About the only thing I get is this: Line: 163 Error: System error: -1072896658.Line 163 which is simply the line: function() { alert("An error has occurred. try again."); This has got to be the most f*d up situation I've been in and I need to get this working! I just cannot understand why IE can't parse a getJSON or $.ajax response, that is impossible or else there would be a huge meltdown with jQuery.

JQuery :: 1.6.2 Broke Svg Hover Events In IE9?

Aug 30, 2011

See this fiddle. [URL]. Hover over the circle, and note the mouse enter/leave notifications.

Now try this:[URL] This is the same code in 1.6.2. The hover events no longer work.

I don't believe this is related to the jquery.svg plugin, since the bug originally happened to me using the highcharts library, which creates and adds svg elements itself. I merely used jquery.svg for convenience in making the example, as I know little about svg.

This seems a bug to me, but I wanted to make sure. Is this a known and expected change in behavior?

JQuery :: Autocomplete Got Broke After Update It?

Aug 5, 2009

After I update JQuery autocomplete plugin (jQuery UI Autocomplete @VERSION), I found one issue. The issue is as follows. When I type "jua" in the autocomplete field. Four matches are returned for users with the first name juan. Then add an "n".Only the first match remains in the list. I have come out from this issue by changing the parameter cacheLength:

0 in place of 1.
$field.autocomplete({
url:ac_url,
cacheLength:1,

For the autocompletion data, it reads from the configuration files.Say in the files the data are in this way.

[code]...

It works for previous issue, But creates another problem, If i change cacheLength to 0 then if i add some new name in the configuration file then it is not taking that updataed data. If i change to 1 then after i type "juan" it displays the last one. That is "juanw" and it not displays the other 4name.

JQuery :: Customer Image Slider Broke After Version 1.4.1?

Nov 30, 2011

I'm using this jQuery slider code that my coworker and I manipulated so that 3 images slide at a time. It worked great till we updated our jQuery to 1.6.2 from 1.3.2 (we were going to go with 1.7.1 but now that we've encountered this problem we have to hold off). I went all the way back to 1.4.1 and it works okay but not as bad as the latest versions.

I included ALL the code. You can literally copy this whole thing into a blank page, save it and test it. It's not really working as expected right now. It doesn't slide all the way back to 1 and there's an empty slide after 9. I will work with my coworker to debug it more but I want to know why versions 1.4.3 through 1.7.1 break it.

EXE From HTML: Critcal Patches Broke ShellExecute Method. What Now?

Jul 23, 2005

Note: There is considerable background detail here, but I do have
three questions, which are clearly marked and appear right before the
sample code.

I have a legitimate need to launch an EXE from an HTML page on Windows
XP/Internet Explorer. The EXE is already locally installed, and the
HTML page is also viewed locally on the PC- it's not a web site. I
know of two ways to do this, both of which are featured in the sample
HTML file at the bottom of my post.

The first method, using the Shell.Application ActiveX Object, used to
work until I installed the latest critical Windows XP patches from
Microsoft. Before these patches were installed, you could click the
‘Launch Notepad.exe' button in my sample HTML file and the program
would start right up. (Note that my Internet security settings are
always at Medium, my Local intranet security settings are at
Medium-low, and I've never had to mess with the individual ActiveX
security settings to get this code to work.)

However, one of the following critical updates has broken the ‘Launch
Notepad' code. It doesn't matter what my Internet/intranet security
settings are, or whether I've enabled unsafe ActiveX scripting. My
list of suspects is: KB842773, KB840315, KB841873, KB839645. (I have
four computers running Windows XP SP-1 at my desk, and each has the
same version of Internet Explorer installed-
6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633. The Launch Notepad code stopped
working on two of them this week, and still worked on the other two.
As a test, I ran Windows Update on one of the working systems and
found that after the patches were applied, my code no longer worked. I
even restored that machine's pre-patched ghost image and confirmed
that the code worked again. Next, I ran Windows Update a second time,
and allowed the aforementioned patches to be installed. Again, it
broke my code.)

You can confirm whether you have these patches installed on your
machine a number of ways, but perhaps the easiest is to open your
Windows folder and look for ‘$NtUninstallKBxxxxxx' folders with names
matching the patches I listed.

And then there's the second method, used by the ‘Launch Regedit.exe'
button. While this will actually still launch the EXE file, it's
undesirable because it always prompts you with a dialog that starts
out "An ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe…" Note that this
even happened before the patches, again regardless of the
Internet/Local intranet security settings.

* QUESTION 1: Is there any way to get ShellExecute to work again once
the new critical updates are installed?

* QUESTION 2: Failing that, how can I get around the unsafe control
warning with the Wscript.Shell method, for a local HTML file that's
trying to launch a local EXE?

* QUESTION 3: Is there any OTHER way for an honest guy like me to
launch a local EXE from a local HTML file?

Thanks, and here's the sample HTML file:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript">

function LaunchNotepad()
{
var launcher = new ActiveXObject("Shell.Application");
launcher.ShellExecute("Notepad.exe", "", "", "open", "1");
}

function LaunchRegedit()
{
var launcher = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell");
launcher.Run("Regedit.exe");
}

</script>
</head>
<body>
<form name="Form1">
<input name="ButtonNotepad" value="Launch Notepad.exe"
onclick="LaunchNotepad()" type="button"> <br>
<br>
<input name="ButtonRegedit" value="Launch Regedit.exe"
onclick="LaunchRegedit()" type="button">
</form>
</body>

JQuery :: Load Html And Loop Through Json While Changing Html With Json Data?

Sep 11, 2010

I have a html file that I want to load, loop through the json data and for each json entry I want to add a new block of the html and insert the json data into the matching div/class of the html. json looks like this:

{"Super" : [{"Name" : "John Doe", "Age" : "30"}, {"Name" : "Jane Doe", "Age" : "40"}]};
html looks like this:
<div class="Name"></div><div class="Age"></div>

So for each json entry of name/age, I want to insert that into the html, and then add another row, until all json data has been fetched. After this I want to insert all of this into #box, which is just a divthat should contain that html. Looping like this obviously does not work, since I just keep replacing the same html through the loop.

var jsonData = {"Super" : [{"Name" : "John Doe", "Age" : "30"}, {"Name" : "Jane Doe", "Age" : "40"}]};
$.each(json.Super, function() {
$('#box .Name').html(this.Name);
$('#box .Age).html(this.Age);
});

JQuery :: Ajax Calls Works, But Only On Second Try

Jul 19, 2010

I'm trying to use the jqmodal dialog plugin and everything is working OK except for one minor problem. It seems when I click on the link, the expected action does not occur until I click the second time. Essentially I set up a small test form with a single line put into a table. In that data line is an href, which when clicked calls an AJAX function and returns text, which displays as a dialog. Like I said, this works fine except for the fact that the dialog does not show until the second time I click on the link. I added an alert box to the code, so I know the function is executed the first time the link is clicked

<script>
$().ready(function() {
$("#hrefClick").click(function(e) {

Jquery :: First Selection Calls The Next Set Of Checkboxes?

Oct 14, 2010

So I have a three step process where the page loads and there is the first section of checkboxes... as the user makes their selections I want to display the next step which also has some checkboxes. If they select a checkbox from the next step then there's a 3rd step.

If I load all sections at once, all three groups of checkboxes works great as far as accepting selections and passing the proper information.

However if I load only one, then after selection is made, load the next one... the next one using the same code as showing all at once does NOT want to work. I can't select anything.

I'm starting with something like:

[Code].....

one is class=checklist, other is =media,... thinking the naming was conflicting and then I have them each call their own function to keep it separate.

JQuery :: Data Limit For $.ajax Calls?

Feb 27, 2010

I'm experiencing a weird problem when trying to do a $.ajax call. When I pass 5 variables, with either GET or POST, the script runs as I would like. However, when I use 6 or more variables, the script does not run. Does anyone know why this is?

Relevant code (stops1-5 are defined as JS variables earlier in my script, and the alerts are for testing)

$(".barcrawl-stop-id").each(function(){
alert("running ajax function");
$.ajax({
url: "/handlers/ajax/barcrawl_reorder.php",

[Code]....

So, the way it is now, it works fine (I get the first alert for each instance of .barcrawl-stop-id, and get an alert at the end with the returned data). However, when I add another variable to the data, like stop4: stop4, the script does not run (all I see is one alert with "running ajax function").

JQuery :: AJAX Calls To A Server On A Different Port?

Nov 3, 2010

I know about the same-origin policy and that one of the only ways to load data from a cross-domain is to load it as JSON. However, all I am trying to do is access data from a server on another port (which I believe the browser still treats as cross-domain). I need to do this because the server my application is on is a map server and the other server (Apache) is the only one that can handle php scripts. I have also tried out the plug-in from [URL] and while it works when I do $('#phpContent').load('http://www.google.com'); it doesn't work when I try $('#phpContent').load('http://localhost:80/mapScripts/getFiles.php'); I have also tried$.get('http://localhost:80/mapScripts/getFiles.php', function(data) { $('#phpContent').html(data); });

So here I am breaking my brain and do not know what else to attempt.

JQuery :: Slow Response To AJAX Calls In IE7?

Jul 30, 2009

I am developing quite a complex user interface in jQuery that relies on an AJAX call to retrieve JSON.We have noticed that the code runs slow in IE7. IE8 and IE6 are acceptable. Firefox and Chrome really quick. I have traced the problem back to the AJAX call, which IE7 seems slow o process. What takes less than a second in the other browsers will take IE7 3 or 4. I have googled for an answer it seems there is some consensus that the native XHR in IE7 is slow, so it may not be a specific jQuery problem.Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have a solution? Please consider that this will be a public website, so the solution cannot involve altering settings on users' machines.

JQuery :: Memory Leaks With Ajax Calls?

Oct 27, 2010

I have a jquery based system with ajax calls instead of page refreshes. Every time I return some ajax content, it replaces the content on the main div.

function execcmdcallback(data, textStatus, XMLHttpRequest)
{
$("#divmain").html(data);
data = null;
}

Each time this executes, the browser memory increases by about 600-900kb. Can anyone suggest a way of doing this where the old memory is freed so there is no significant increase in browser memory on each ajax call ?

I've studied this a bit, [URL]..., but I have to admit I don't quite understand it I see the same issue on IE8, FF and Chrome. FF comsumes less memory per ajax call and frees some memory seconds later, but still the total working set is increasing on each call by 300k in FF and 600 to 900 in chrome and IE
