View 3 Replies View RelatedAnother thing that has been driving me crazy is that css positioning is handled differently by different browsers. JS is not my area, but I can do a lot with CSS, and I do, but cross browser compatibility is killing me.
I can use an IF IE statement and only IE runs that segment of code, but I haven't been able to figure out out how to make ONLY firefox or ONLY opera or safari enact an encapsulated segment of code. The same type of IF statement doesn't work for them.
Is there a single method using JS that works for all browsers?
I want to give a warning to user when she tries to navigate away from the page. So I am using a 'Confirm' dialogue. Pressing cancel should stop her from leaving the page.
This is my function which is called from the onUnload of the body tag of the page. code...
When I click on 'Cancel' button (part of the form within the same page), then this code is called and if I press cancel in the dialogue, user stays on same page.
However, I press any outside link, which takes user to some other page, then pressing cancel in the dialogue doesn't stop user moving away from the page.

I am trying to use Accordion Content script v1.7 from DynamicDrive.com on some pages. I have set up a test page to show the error messages. I have changed the doctype of the page several times, including the exact one they use on the sample/instruction page on DD, but no luck. It is also throwing an error of undefined var ddaccordion, which is defined in ddaccordion.js, which is the JS file that goes with sample page , which is located in the same directory.

I am trying to finish this small project and seem to run into a snag.
Its a simple word checker that provides a prompt and you input a single word no punctuation or white space and then answer question does begin with vowel and if there are two adjacent vowels.

I am creating a simple "fill form" function for a specific page. The function will fill the form and click submit. after this a second form appears which needs to get filled and also send a click to submit button.
Unfortunately when i append the script dynamically to a page, when the page gets refreshed,after the first submit click, the script stops executing and therefore the second form does not get filled at all.
I searched and found out that if I append the script to an independent frame it will continue executing.
Note that the original pages do not have any frames. so I must somehow create a frame on top, append the script and run it.
I have the code below ***within <head> section. It's for making fancy
buttons, and it works great. What I was wondering was this.
I also have in <head> the following line: <SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript"
src=/js/javas.js></SCRIPT> which essentially has a bunch of unrelated
javascript functions.
What I would like to do is move the code below into my javas.js file, but am
unsure what is the proper format since it doesn't seem to me a function by
name. Code:
OK so Ive been using jquery for a little bit now and love it. I am a ColdFusion developer. I have a need where I would like to present the user with a list of categories and the user can drag and drop to sort, but then I need to post this new sort order to the database. So I see there are a ton of cool drag & drop plugins for jquery. I understand how they work and I can get it to work as far as spitting out DIVS or spitting out ULs that can be sorted, but then what? So now they are sorted on my screen and not really part of the form. How do I translate that into something I can do a post to the database with? Do I do an AJAX call every time they drop an item and try to extrapolate the sort order on that item after they drop it? Do I populate a hidden form field with the constantly updating sort order list? MAybe a list of ID's? How does everyone else go about this this task? I'm sure there is more than one way and I'm sure this is a common task.

View 4 Replies View RelatedBasically what I need to do is cause a bit of HTML to only display on a specific page. I have figured out how to do most of the work i.e. figuring out what page that the code is being displayed on, etc. However, for some reason the DOM element that I am using will not update based on the Javascript.
Here is the version of the code that I am currently working on:
<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript">
window.onload = function DisplayButton() {
var DesiredPage = 'Page to Display';
//Page that I want the code to display on
var sPath = window.location.pathname;
var sPage = sPath.substring(sPath.lastIndexOf('/') + 1);
//This determines and places in a variable what page that the code will be on
if (sPage == DesiredPage) {
document.getElementById('HiddenCode').style.display = "block";
}}
</script>
<p Id="HiddenCode" style="display:none">Code only to be displayed on indicated page</p>
</head>
</html>
