Create Iframes Using Cookies And Javascript
Oct 24, 2010
is there a way to create iframes using cookies and javascript? What i need to do is to have a way to create a cookie on page one, and use the info on page two to create the iframe.Users will see a list of "external links", once they click on a link, they will be redirected to a page that will generate a iframe of the chosen link.My guess is that if there is a way, it must need to use cookies to store the info (url) to get used by the script that will create the iframe on the page that will be used to show all iframes.

I'm starting to use some iframes in a div layer. I want to know if i can use javascript to change the size of the iframe (from the parent page containing the iframe).
In IE i can use 100% width and height to fit the iframe to the layer, but in Netscape 6 the iframe doesn't appear if the height is set in % values - hence the need to be able to specify it dynamically as the layer wil change size.

In small.html there is the text "visible"
How do you get it so that when you click on "click", "visible" changes from black(default) to red?

I'm kinda new in scripting, so this is why I ask the pro ppl.I'm trying to make an obfuscation with html+javascript(only these are allowed on mydisk.se), where:file1.html: displays some text, creates a cookie with a keyword, then after a few time a link appears to file2.html.file2.html part1: checks for the content of the cookie created, if it matches with the defined keyword, then deletes the cookie and shows some text part2: if cookie doesn't match, shows another text.

First the code:
Code:
Looking at the code, you might assume (as I did) that clicking the button on page1.htm would load page2.htm. However for some reason, when calling a parent function, the function runs with the calling file's path rather than the path of the parent.
So it is actually trying to load /files/files/page2.htm! How do I force all calls to parent.function() to run with parent.hta's path as the root?
Realize that this is a simplistic example and simple solutions such as putting all the files in the same path, or dropping the "/files" in the loadPage2() function are not valid solutions.
Essentially I need to call parent.loadPage2() and have it run the function with the root path = parent.hta's path.

I expanded upon a script a friend helped me write, to create a simple check box that hides / shows content, as shown HERE. [URL] Unfortunately, I don't have a clue how to expand this, so that I can use more than one checkbox on the page, to open different sections.
<html>
<head>
<title>Title of page</title>
<script language="JavaScript">
function getCookie(NameOfCookie)
{ if (document.cookie.length > 0)
{ begin = document.cookie.indexOf(NameOfCookie+"=");

Data I'm saving to a Cookie looks like this: "A,B,C^1,2,3" I need
everything to the left of the "^" to go in one input box, and
everything to the right in another input box when I load the Cookies
into my page. Any suggestions using Javascript? I think I can use
"split" somehow, but not sure exactly how to proceed.

I had no experience with cookies up to today. I read about the properties of cookies. Then I started to write a few lines of Javascript into my html-page:
function SetMyValue(name, val)
{
document.cookie = name+"="+val;
}
and
SetMyValue('firstname','michael');
I did not set the properties "expires" and "domain".
When I put the page to my server, called it with the IE 6 and looked
into the IE for my cookie, it was not there. But when I made a cgi program
that showed HTTP_COOKIE, I saw, that the IE was sending it. So I had
an invisible cookie with my IE. Only when closed the IE and opened it again,
it was lost.-

Now, I am not talking about some kind of malicious coding, or spyware writing by any means, but I do need it to be able to read the cookies from a site other than my own. At least I think this is what is required. What I am trying to accomplish is this; I have a stats package setup on a different domain than my live website and I am using it to track the stats of the users on my site other than paying for stats service through some other company, and it seems to be working just as I need it to, only I would like for it to be able to do a little bit more. Right now, all it is capturing form the user is their IP address, browser information and host information on their ISP. But, I would like for it to be able do more. I would like for it to be able to retrieve certain cookies generated by a different site and show me the information in which the cookies hold... I am not talking about displaying passwords or any such thing like that, I just need certain information.

I am using a standard javascript that I downloaded from
javascriptsource.com to read from and fill in a form using cookies.
The page tests well in every browser except Apple's Safari (from
10.3.2)
Unfortunately, my clients daughter uses Safari so I have to get it to
work with it, even though most of his clients use IE.
What do I need to do to change the code so this will all work in
Safari? Code:

I have a situation where I'm displaying some information in a table on
a web page. I've given the user the ability to make several different
"queries" and show different sub-sets of the data.
I would like to add a button to the page that would allow the user to
create an .XLS file that would contain the current contents of the
table. I realize that I could create it on the server and allow him to
download it but I'd rather let him create it right there on his
machine. Is it possible to have a script that can do such a thing?

I am trying to create/update a Php Session with Javascript to confirm
if users have Javascript enabled.
My first thought was to create a Javascript that writes a script tag
referencing a php page, which sets a $_SESSION variable.
javascript.js:
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--//
document.write('<s'+'cript type="text/javascript"
src="javascript.php"></s'+'cript>');
//-->
</script>
javascript.php:
<?php
session_start();
$_SESSION['javascript'] = 'enabled'
?>
I can see that both the javascript.js and javascipt.php files are
executing from the web logs, but when I try to query the
$_SESSION['javascript'] variable from another page $_SESSION is empty.
Is it possible to create/update a Php Session with Javascript?
Might it be done using URLEncoded URL, Javascript XMLHttpRequest, or
something of the like?

Now to my question: I've created a dynamic table sorting script in JavaScript.
It allows you to sort any by any column ascending or descending and even remove options (kinda like Excel in a way).
It uses (as far as I know and I've tried to keep it) 100% standards compliant code.
Not surprisingly, it doesn't work *at all* in Internet Explorer yet it works *perfectly* in Firefox and Opera.
The funny thing is that IE doesn't throw any error messages--just a blank page.
Here is the page in question (please be sure to enable JavaScript to see the effect).
Any ideas?
