Check For Dead Links - HTTP Request

Oct 25, 2011

I've come back to working on something I built a while ago. Just a small function that I started that displays links by searching through a text area and grabbing all a hrefs. I want to try and build on it to check for dead links. This is the report code:
Code:
function report(){
document.getElementById("htmlDiv").innerHTML = document.getElementById("htmlArea").value;
a = document.getElementById("htmlDiv").getElementsByTagName("a");
for(i=0; i < a.length; i++){
//window.open(a[i].href)//the ( and ) characters signify that window.open is a function;
if(i == 0){
document.getElementById("report").innerHTML = "<li><a href="" + a[i].href + "" />" + a[i].href + "</a></li>";
document.getElementById("report").style.display = "block";
} else {
document.getElementById("report").innerHTML += "<li><a href="" + a[i].href + "" />" + a[i].href + "</a></li>";
}}
document.getElementById("reportNumber").innerHTML = "Total: " + i;
}

I was thinking maybe I could encorporate the following into this maybe?
Code:
function UrlExists(url) {
var http = new XMLHttpRequest();
http.open('HEAD', url, false);
http.send();
return http.status!=404;
}
The above makes sense to me as I think it is saying as long as its not 404 its ok. I want to incorporate something like that so my report displays links and maybe strikes them through if they return 404 or are dead.

Child Window Close Event - Opening Another Link In A Separate Window Using Window.open()

Jan 29, 2010

Child Windows Can Not Access Window.opener When Multiple Child Windows Are Open

Jul 23, 2005

I have a parent window that pushes a new window object onto an Array
with the following code :

OpenChild()
{

//totalNumWindowsCreated is global

totalNumWindowsCreated = totalNumWindowsCreated + 1;
childWnds.push(window.open(link, "child" +
totalNumWindowsCreated,"dependent"));

..
..
..
}

This pops up a new window with every call. In the child window I call
a parent function onbeforeunload, appClose() :

function appClose(){

if (window.opener && !window.opener.closed){
window.opener.CloseChild(getQueryString("application"));
}}

This is in my frameset tag of the child code :

<frameset ... onbeforeUnload='appClose()'>

The window.opener.CloseChild() function is called perfectly when I have
one child window open, but as soon as I create another child window
both of the open child windows don't ever call it. They do both go
into the onbeforeunload appClose() function, but do not call the
window.opener.CloseChild() function inside of this routine.

Anyone have any ideas why when I have two child windows open I can't
access the window.opener functions?

I have tried taking each new window out of the array and used the
following code in CloseChild() :

CloseChild()
{

//win and totalNumWindowsCreated are both global

totalNumWindowsCreated = totalNumWindowsCreated + 1;
var win = window.open(link, "child" +
totalNumWindowsCreated,"dependent");

..
..
..
}

Loading An XML Array From Within An Child Node

Sep 17, 2009

This technically uses Javascript + PHP + XML, but the problem is more based on Javascript than the other two. That, and there are 380 people viewing Javascript and 8 people viewing XML, I decided to take the path of lesser resistance. Also, the code I used, I'm sure there are a million shortcuts that could be used.

Products Load from an Array Options Load from the chosen Products? I'm thinking this can be done two ways. Maybe a separate XML can be used for Options but then how would I link each one for each product? Or, can I load the Options in the same XML for each Product and load an array for each Product's Options?

Later on, I need to figure out how to create a new element for each form the User fills out. IE They finish filling out the options and volume for 20 GI JOES. So it should save those Variables and the User Filled Variables. And then allow you to fill out a new product. Appending to the last form filled out IE

Child Pop Up Race Condition Using Window.open Need To Detect Window.onload

Nov 22, 2011

I am trying to pop up a window and then do stuff(set flags) when the content of the new window is done loading. For this I am trying to detect the window.onload of the pop-up child window but so far I am unsuccessful. I believe my problem is that the URL of child window is on different domain, than the one of the opener(parent) so that the window.onload is not being called. Though this may change, at the moment I do not have access to the code for the page I'm opening up in the pop-up. Im pretty new to web development.

JQuery :: Basic Page Loading DIV - Full Window DIV That Sits Above All The Content With A Loading Icon

Oct 21, 2009

I have a site that is very jQuery and image heavy. The main sections of the site link to sections that are built with several Tabs, and as it loads, you briefly see all the content load and then it is hidden by the Tabs code.

The plan is to have a full window DIV that sits above all the content with a loading icon that plays until the entire page loads, and then it fades down.

After some hair pulling and research I have code in place that does exactly as I ask, however it does not seem to work in IE6+7. It works in all other browsers.

The current code is:

Window.opener.location Not Working From Https To Http?

Jun 9, 2009

I have a real problem with an e-commerce site which has worked for years without a hitch but with the uptake of IE8 (it seems) this problem is getting more and more frequent Problem: customer continues through checkout on main site (http:[url]....).

When they have to enter their credit card details, they click on a link to open a window (https:[url]....). The details are verified and if valid, the customer is returned to the confirmation page in the parent screen (http:[url]....) and the payment window is closed . Pop-up blockers are causing problems here but even when pop-up blockers are disabled, the confirmation page loads in a new window.I'm using :

<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
window.opener.location="<?php echo ($main_url);?>thanks.php>";[code].....

But the page always loads in a new window and not the parent window.Is there any way to load the confirmation page in the parent window?

Call Parent Window Function From Child Window?

Jan 18, 2010

I have created and opened a child window called "checkwin" and have written some data to it. If the data is valid, I want the user to click on the 'CONFIRM' button on the child window, at which time I want the "submit()" function for the form on the parent window to be executed. If the data is invalid the user clicks on 'MODIFY' and I want focus to return to a field on the parent form. However, when I click on the "CONFIRM" or "MODIFY" buttons on the child window, nothing happens. Here is the code:

checkwin.document.write("</td></tr><tr><td align='right'><input type='button' value='CONFIRM'
onclick='opener.document.personnel_form.submit()'></td><td></td><td><input type='button' value='MODIFY'
