Adding Script To PHP File - CSS Style

Apr 13, 2010

I have this javascript that checks screen resolution and opens a custom css file depending on the results and its working fine if I run it from an html version of my site. What I want to try and do is add this script to my header.php file. header.php currently uses this code to define the css style:
Code:
<style type="text/css" media="screen">@import "<?php echo $this->getStyleSheet('style.css')?>";</style>

The javascript I want to use is in a file called detect.js that looks like this:
Code:
$(document).ready(function() {
if ((screen.width>=1400) && (screen.height>=1050)) {
alert('Screen size: 1400x1050 or larger');
$("link[rel=stylesheet]:not(:first)").attr({href : "style.css"});
}
else {
alert('Screen size: less than 1024x768, 800x600 maybe?');
$("link[rel=stylesheet]:not(:first)").attr({href : "style1.css"});
}
});

So heres what I tried but it didn't work instead it just loaded the page without a template.
Code:
<?php echo '<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"> </script>';
?>
<?php echo '<script type="text/javascript" src="detect.js"></script>';
?>

Adding Style Tag To Head

Jul 26, 2006

I am attempting to add a style tag (and some styles) within the head tag. I have attempted this using two methods and both failed in IE (InnerHTML and appendChild). The append child method i tried looks likeCode:

function addStyles(styles) {

var newStyleTag = document.createElement('style');
newStyleTag.setAttribute('id', 'extraStyle');

var head = document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0];

head.appendChild(newStyleTag);

var oStyles = document.createTextNode(styles);
document.getElementById('extraStyle').appendChild(oStyles);

}

So i am basically just Creating the style tag and giving it an idappending the style tag to the headCreating a new text node and appending it to the style tag It is failing on the last append child. The inner HTML method was failing on about the same part.

Dynamically Adding A File Upload Field?

Jun 15, 2011

I am trying to make it where someone can upload a .csv file, and I want to allow them to add multiple ones if they need more than the two that are already there.

What I did was add a div field:

Code:
<div id="fields" style="display: none;">
<p><label>File Field:</label><br /><input type=file name=file size=45 class=formfield /></p>

[Code].....

The problem with that is once they choose a file or two on those first two, then click the add a new field, it does add the new field so it works, but then the files they chose are gone, so now they have to rechoose them. every time.

JQuery :: Adding A File Upload To A Simple Form Submit?

Jan 13, 2012

I'm a CSS and PHP developer, finding myself using jquery and AJAX more and more, of course, and learning a little about it as i go. but only a little. :o)i have a client who's asked me to add an image upload feature to a simple comments post script i've "built". i can see, kind of, how this jquery is posting the form text inputs, but have no idea if this thing can even be made to post a file at the same time.Hoping someone might add a function for me to do this if it can be done?

$(document).ready(function(){
/* The following code is executed once the DOM is loaded */
/* This flag will prevent multiple comment submits: */

JQuery :: Obtain ORIGINAL Style Setting - And NOT Computed Style?

May 5, 2010

My understanding had been that $.css("width") would return the original user selected style, eg "100%" or "10em", and $.width() returned the computed width, always in "px". Not so, following the code through for .css(), it calls something called getComputedStyle and the only difference between the two functions turns out to be a post-fix of "px" on the .css() result - not very useful. I need to know whether my user has called me with a proportional dimension, or a fixed one. How to tell with jQuery?

JQuery :: Using To Style List-style-type?

Oct 12, 2011

This is probably quite a simple problem but I can't figure out the answer. I'm working on a site that has news stories and events coming in. What I would like is to have the news stories to be styled with squares and events with discs for instance. I might be able to change the actual plug-in so the CSS affects this change, but I just wondered how I could change the list-style-type with jQuery.

Reading External Text File - Load The Content Of The File Into A Variable In Script

I need to load the content of the file into a variable in my script. I prefer that all the words will be in the same variable with line breaks, but if you'll figure out a way to put it in an array, it's ok too. I really don't know how to do it, and I tried to google but didn't understand.. By the way, I don't want to change the txt file to js file, I need it to remain txt..

JQuery :: Get File Path & Size Of The File To Upload In Internet Explorer 7?

I'm trying to put in place a file upload validation check. So at the client-side, the User selects a file. Before uploading, at the GUI, if the file exceeds an imposed limit, it will prompt the User that it exceeds the permitted size for upload.

And if it is within the permitted size, the full file path of the file to be uploaded will then be obtained and then used for the actual upload to the Server.

My program is built on EXTJS and Java, running using Tomcat. Browser restricted to Internet Explorer 7 only.

JQuery :: Form Plugin File Upload Doesn't Attach File

Jun 6, 2011

I have a problem with the latest version of the jQuery Form Plugin (2.80). To be more precise, I guess I am doing something wrong, and with an older version (2.67) somehow it didn't matter.With the old version, the file was uploaded without problems. Now Firefox opens a new Tab on clicking the submit button and nothing is done. Chrome doesn't open a new tab, but also nothing happens. In Wireshark I can see that there is no file attached in the POST message with the older version, the file was sent.My first guess was that my file handling on the server side is erroneous - but on the other hand, when there is no file attached, what should I handle there?
